Theme: Many say “The Passion of the Christ” is too violent, and that the portrayal of the scourging is too graphic. Yes, it’s violent and hard to watch, but it’s historically accurate. The depiction of the Roman soldiers is also accurate. In the first century, Roman soldiers were the best soldiers in the world and very brutal. They had crucified thousands of people. If they failed in carrying out a crucifixion, they would be crucified.
Brothers and sisters, make no mistake… Jesus was scourged!
